Back at work

Tuesday 23 January 2007 – 11:11

Today, I’m back at work. I haven’t been here for a month, which feels a bit strange. I have a lot of catching up to do, so I guess I’ll keep this short.

  2. Hi Dempa,
I’m following your music work for a while now, because I like it very much and highly appreciate your talent!
I wrote a couple of things about myself in the login profile. Have a look when you’ll have the time.
Just drop me a line if there’s a way we can chat (Skype, Voipstunt or mail).

    Looking forward to it.

  3. Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to figure out how to balance work, family, house renovations etc just yet. A more complicated way of saying that I currently suck at making music. :)

  4. Hi,
Don’t worry. There’s a saying “what has to come out, will come out”. So will your music :-)
BTW music: May I ask you to share with me some details about what’s your HW and SW set of tools for making this awesome music. Or I should have taken a closer look at this website? I read that you’ve just had some problems with your cable link between the seq. and PC.

    Thanks.

  5. I have a Korg 01/Wfd synth as my main keyboard. It’s mostly used as a master MIDI keyboard these days. Back in the day, when I didn’t use computers for music making, I used the 01/W’s built-in 16 track sequencer A LOT. :)

On the software side, I use whatever gets the job done. That has always been my policy regarding operating systems, applications, sequencers etc.

  6. Thanks Dempa.
I agree with you. It’s the result that matters and not what the “toolbox” is made of.
I myself, have ideas from time to time, but it’s yet difficult to “translate” it to something audible, especially that I haven’t decided yet upon what keyboard to buy.
I have also a musician relative, member of a locally famous group back in Transylvania, who has just sold his old G800 keyboard and is thinking about a new G70 or Tyros2.
Actually, my music making plans might seem very remote as my work and family life is very much alike yours - full;-)

Hence you may as well find all this a senseless chat, but there wasn’t anybody so far to openly share my querries with. Just let me know if this bores you in any way.
So, back to my above “translation” idea, I find it most difficult to put an idea (melody) from my mind onto record or something.
I might use your advice to begin with. How did you start?

  7. Actually, it’s not that common for me to have an idea in my head and then make it into musical piece in my sequencer. Most of my songs starts out as me playing with different instruments and basically just goofing around with different sounds. That, however, doesn’t mean that I don’t have musical ideas in my head… and sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t try to get them recorded somehow.

  8. Yes, I remember this way of just “goofing around” from my childhood when I was sitting in front of my piano and just trying to squeeze out of it something new and original…
Anyway, I stop daydreaming now and will go to see how my daugher feels in her bedroom. She has high fever, you know and I need to watch over her for now, then later in the night my wife takes over. Apparently is an evil virus that causes trouble now here in Hungary. Nothing else, just high fever for a week or so.
It seems that we all need to go through this tough flu eventually this winter.
BTW. I hope you are now back at 100% energy level after your cold.

    regards.

  9. Hi Dempa!
What’s cooking these days? No update to your web page for long now. Are you well?

  10. Yeah, been crazy busy at work, that’s all. When time permits, I’m actually working on a new design for this site. Hopefully I can get it done and out of the door sometime soonish.

  11. We had a long week-end with May 1st as a holiday. I personally needed it very much.
    Very busy at work, likewise.
Looking forward to see your new web design. You people in North have a very good sense of Nature and what’s natural. This is reflected by your choice of colors used and the picture on top, as well. It’s harmonious if I may say that.
On the other hand I could give you my view of how you could make your site more easy to oversee and “user friendly”. Obviously, only if you’re interested…

BTW: Don’t work too hard and take good care of yourself.
There are many other people out there, but there’s just one of you. :-)
    Regards.
